America has voted and…
In the summer of 2008 when our Chicago Huddle TV Show was looking to make a change in the house band, little known and Chicago based, singer / songwriter Lee Dewyze impressed our producers enough to “win” the job. Amazingly, landing a spot as the house band of a NFL player TV show in the nation’s third largest television market is no longer the biggest “win” of Lee Dewyze’s career. After two seasons of supplying the music for Chicago Huddle, Lee became a household name this year as he won American Idol. It has been great to see Lee’s dreams come true.
Have you been to Kwik Trip yet?
This summer every trip to a Wisconsin-area Kwik Trip could end up with you having lunch with Milwaukee Brewers All-Star Ryan Braun. Kwik Trip worked with Lammi Sports Management to create a contest where consumers can send in post cards for a chance to win lunch with Ryan Braun at his new downtown Milwaukee restaurant.
Earlier this season Kwik Trip and Ryan filmed a commercial at Ryan Braun’s Waterfront. The :30 commercial can be seen across the state all summer long including within our One on One with Ryan Braun Interviews. This is the second in-store contest that Kwik Trip has partnered with Lammi Sports on. Last season Donald Driver encouraged Packer fans to enter to win VIP Passes to a taping of Inside the Huddle.
It’s a hit!
The 3rd Annual Donald Driver Softball game was bigger and better than ever. This year’s game, presented by Kwik Trip, broke records for attendance and monies raised. Highlights of the game include a check presentation to Special Olympics for $20,000 from the Donald Driver Foundation. In a reversal of fortunes, this season the Offense pounded the Defense, 30-18. The Offense was paced by quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers and Matt Flynn as well as 1st Round Draft Pick Bryan Bulaga. A new wrinkle to this year’s game was the handing out of the Most Valuable Tweeter. The winner of the first year award was Ryan Grant. The Appleton Post Crescent documented the in-game tweeting battles between the Packers. Fans also got into the action by tagging their tweets #DDSoftball, one lucky tweeting fan won round trip airfare compliments of AirTran Airways.

Book Club
Our Vice President Dan Cary checks in on a book he recently completed: “I thoroughly enjoyed When The Game Was Ours by Larry Bird and Magic Johnson with Jackie MacMullan. What was most interesting to me was back story of the famous Converse commercial that Larry and Magic filmed in 1986. Bird, who was extremely hesitant to film a commercial with his fierce rival, insisted on the unusual condition that he would only do the spot if it would be filmed at his home in rural Indiana. Much to Bird’s surprise, Magic agreed to the remote location and the rest is sports marketing history”.
