Tony Fisher
Tony Fisher showed signs early that he would be a valuable part of the Ram's offensive attack. Tony's abilities were showcased in his first preseason game where he scored his first touchdown as a Ram. Fisher went on to finish the preseason as the Rams leading rusher. Fisher's strong play continued into the Rams home opener against the Broncos, making a career-long 49-yard reception that led to a score. Again, Fisher displayed his excellent hands and explosiveness out of the backfield taking a screen pass 40 yards downfield setting up a score and victory against his former Packer teammates in Green Bay. Unfortunately, Fisher's season was cut short due to a knee injury that sidelined him for most of 2006.
Fisher, an unrestricted free agent signed with St Louis on March 25, 2006 after spending the past four seasons with the Green Bay Packers. Said Rams Head Coach Scott Linehan: "He's got some size to match up in pass protection. He's also got some elusiveness to get open in route running, and proved that when he played at Green Bay.”
Green Bay Packers Tony Fisher had a very productive 2005 for the Packers where he was 3rd on the team in receptions with 48. His 48 receptions also ranked 3rd for receptions among running backs in the NFC. Tony started four games in 2005 for the Packers and was 4th on the Packers with 520 total yards of offense, which is the highest mark of his career. In week 8 Tony broke his ribs but only missed two games and he still managed to fight through the pain and put up a majority of his stats after the injury. Not just a contributor on the field, Fisher was awarded the 2005 “Community Service Award” by the Green Bay Chamber of Commerce in recognition of his outstanding community involvement. In addition to his community service Tony also had two radio shows of his own, appearing weekly on Milwaukee stations, The Brew 97.3 FM and 95.7 WRIT. He also hosted a segment called “In the House,” which aired on Inside the Huddle, a statewide weekly TV show hosted by Donald Driver.
Fisher's 2004 season saw him finish fourth on the team in receptions with 38. Tony also carried the ball 65 times this season for the Pack, gaining 224 yards and picking up 17 first downs. One of the highlights from Tony's 2004 season was a clutch, third down reception against Minnesota on Green Bay's final drive. Tony made a leaping catch along the sideline as time ran down, setting up the game-winning field goal.
Tony Fisher showed up to the Green Bay Packers training camp in 2002 as an un-drafted rookie free agent. The four-year letterman out of Notre Dame was ready to work hard to prove he belonged in the NFL. As one of only three un-drafted rookie free agents to make the Green Bay's 2002 roster, Tony ran for 283 yards and two touchdowns in his rookie season; the most by a Green Bay rookie in 16 years. His rookie season was highlighted when Pepsi named Fisher the NFL rookie of the week for his 91-yard touchdown scoring performance against the longtime NFC North Division rival Chicago Bears.
Fisher has showcased his athleticism and continues to develop into an offensive weapon. "Tony is a very smart football player with great versatility," says Johnny Roland, former Packers' running backs coach. "He can play a variety of positions. He's a running back first, but you can certainly deploy him out of the backfield. He has great hands and runs competent pass routes."
Fisher graduated from Notre Dame with a B.A. in economics and computer applications, and he eventually hopes to enter the financial services field. He is also very active in the community.
