Throughout Santana Dotson's career he was much more than just a great football player. Dotson worked with several charitable programs and appeared on numerous media platforms. Now as a retired NFL star, the same is true. Having completed a career that started by winning Rookie of the Year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and culminated in two Super Bowls appearances with the Green Bay Packers, Santana is no stranger to success. Today he is an accomplished businessman, owning fitness centers throughout Texas and the Southeast as well as international beverage Distribution Company. His role as President of the Santana Dotson Foundation allows him raise money for economically disadvantaged children to attend college throughout Texas. .
Santana has extensive media experience to draw from. He took on the job of studio analyst for the 2002 Green Bay Packers' playoff games with an ABC affiliate in Wisconsin. Santana was able to use his experience as a professional football player to make key comments on the games.
During his tenure with the Green Bay Packers, Santana hosted his own TV show, Pack Attack, for three years. His responsibilities for the weekly show were interviewing guest players, providing analysis of the previous week's game, and playing air guitar with the band in front of a live audience. Santana also hosted a local radio show for seven years, on the #1 rated station in the Milwaukee.
Santana's playing career saw the most success when he was a member of the Green Bay Packers. There, Santana stepped right in and became a cornerstone of the team. With his charisma and personality he helped the Packers' defense come together to become a top-notch unit, and eventually helped to lead them to a Super Bowl Championship. He also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins.
Santana not only has contributed to teams on the field and in the media, but has also played an important role in charities by starting the Santana Dotson Foundation in 1995. This foundation is “committed to helping economically disadvantaged students from Houston's inner city neighborhoods, with the financial assistance they need in order to receive a college education.” The organization runs numerous events in Houston and Milwaukee to raise funds for this worthwhile cause.
