Hunter Hillenmeyer

Since joining the Bears in 2003, Hunter Hillenmeyer has established himself as a stable force on one of the strongest defenses in the NFL. With 3 seasons under his belt, he has accumulated nearly 200 tackles and played in 57 career games with 36 starts. Hunter ranked 4th on the team in tackles, and led the Bears in tackles in Super Bowl XLI. It is no wonder that the Bears signed Hunter to an extension that will run through the 2011 season.

As a rookie, Hillenmeyer excelled as a special teams member and compiled 30 special teams tackles. Always dependable, he started in 3 of 4 postseason appearances. In 2004, he made a name for himself by starting in 11 and playing in all 16 games, while gaining recognition for career-highs in tackles. He successfully managed to fill the gap left by injured MVP Brain Urlacher for 6 games in 2004.

A star at Vanderbilt, Hillenmeyer was a four-year letter winner, earning first team All SEC honors. He was also granted the title of first-team Academic All-American, and graduated with a 3.8 in Economics and Human and Organizational Development. Hunter was also involved with the Boy’s and Girl’s Clubs and Special Olympics during college.

Hillenmeyer, born and raised in Nashville, is the youngest of 5 boys. Hunter’s father Henry is a Yale graduate, where he was on the basketball and crew team. Still focused on academics, Hillenmeyer is pursuing a MBA at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, in Evanston, Illinois. Hunter is also a spokesperson for Goodwill Industries of Chicago.
