Colin Cole

Before suffering a broken forearm that ended his 2007 season,  Colin Cole made the most of his opportunities in 2007.  Part of one of the most talented and deepest defensive lines in the NFL, Cole tallied 13 tackles, playing in just 7 contests.  Colin Cole was part of a Packer front that ranked 2nd in the NFC in points allowed per game and allowing the fewest rushing touchdowns in the NFL.

Establishing himself as a force in the middle of the Packer defense, Colin Cole had the best year of his five year NFL career in 2006.  Over the course of the season, Colin acculumated 53 tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble.  Colin’s season was highlighted by his performance game against NFL perennial power New England Patriots, where he notched 8 tackles and sack on Patriots Pro Bowl Quarterback Tom Brady. 

Colin’s technique, work ethic, and off-season work regiment have caught the eye of the Packers’ coaching staff. “He’s probably been the most consistent interior lineman to this point. I know the coaches are very satisfied with him,” said Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy. Cole, who lost 20 pounds during the off-season by altering his diet, added quickness to his game in addition to his outstanding strength.

In his first full season in 2005, Colin played in all 16 games, recording four or more tackles in 9 games. A frequent contributor and consistent performer, Colin earned a starting job the final three weeks of the season. Colin finished with 62 tackles and 2 sacks in his 2005 season, putting himself in a good position to earn a full time starting job in 2006.

Colin ColeIn 2004, Colin found himself on the Packers’ practice squad where he patiently waited for an opportunity to present itself. An opportunity came Colin’s way when starting defensive tackle Grady Jackson was inactive with an injury, giving Colin his first start in the regular season finale against the Bears, where he had a strong showing.

A four year letter winner at Iowa, Colin played alongside current Packer Aaron Kampman. An African-American studies major, Colin was a First Team All-Big Ten pick, co-captain of the Haweyes defense and a key part of a Iowa defense that ranked fifth in the nation against the run his senior year. Colin also received Honorable Mention All-Big Ten honors in his junior campaign. Over his career at Iowa, Colin collected 213 tackles and an impressive 23 sacks.

Colin attended South Plantation High School, where he was named to the second-team all-Florida and first-team all-Dade County for his football prowess. Karesha and Colin have started a consulting business to help high school student-athletes pursue college careers. In his spare time, Colin enjoys lifting weights, all types of music, and collecting vintage cars. Colin’s fun-loving, gregarious personality has made him a favorite with his team and fans alike.
