Bernard Berrian

Bernard Berrian has quickly established himself as one best big play receivers in the National Football League.  Bernard’s big play ability has earned him the reputation as one of the most dangerous receivers in the game today. Berrian enjoyed a breakthrough year in 2006, reaching career highs in receptions (51), yards (775), and six touchdowns. Making big plays in big games, Berrian played an intricate role in the Bears’ run to the Super Bowl. Berrian led all Chicago receivers in the postseason with 14 receptions for 228 yards and two touchdowns. Bernard’s three year career average of 15.8 yards per catch ranks him seventh among all NFL players with at least 60 receptions during that time. 

In 2005, Bernard gained confidence over the course of the season, leading the Bears receiving corps the last five games; bring in over 220 receiving yards. Berrian was also named the NFC’s Special Teams Player of the Week after long punt returns against the Falcons. 

In his rookie season, Berrian contributed in every game for the Bears as a receiver and on special teams. He also caught his first career touchdown pass against the 49ers on a 49 yard strike.

A third round selection in the 2004 NFL Draft, Berrian came to Chicago after a stellar four year career at Fresno State University. He left Fresno State ranked second in school history with 199 career receptions, first with 25 touchdown receptions. As a junior, Berrian was also recognized as an All-American by the American Football Coaches Association

Berrian, born in Spain and raised in Northern California, is the son of Sallie and Joseph Berrian. Bernard attended Atwater High School while leading his team to a 13-1 record during his senior year. Affectionately known to his teammates as B-Twice, Bernard is a snake connoisseur, owning a boa constrictor that he named Roscoe.
